Fifty dollars / the State of Georgia. 1865.

Fractional currency issued by the State of Georgia, Milledgeville, Ga., Jan. 16, 1865. The bearer was to receive "eight per cent state bonds or specie, six months after a treaty of peace, or when Banks of Savannah and Augusta resume." Also "receiveable in payment of all dues to the state and to the Western & Atlantic Railroad." The currency is numbered (no. 1757) and signed in ink.
